對歐美人士來說，聖誕節絕對是一年中最重要的節日，也是與家人團聚分享的時刻。
在英國的幼兒學前教育(pre-school; reception)階段，小小孩在耶誕節也會表演應景節目。
這個風潮近幾年在台灣也很常見，以參加過台灣幼兒耶誕表演的經驗來說，
台灣表演的道具，舞台，聲光效果，以及錄影，絕對是不輸給英國，甚至樂勝。
但是究竟東西方的聖誕表演有什麼細微的差異呢？
2016年底參加了小小孩學校的耶誕表演，由於是教會學校，宗教意義的色彩自然稍微濃厚點
但是不會流於枯燥，教條式，以及強加宗教意識於小朋友身上，
反而是讓小孩了解耶誕節的故事來由，鮮少觸及商業化的部分。
針對四歲的小小孩來說，唱唱跳跳是最適合的，太多的台詞反而容易搞瘋小孩，家長，老師。
今年表演的曲目是完整的Wriggly Nativity，不但可以滿足小孩角色扮演的癮頭，
歌曲也非常好聽，更有少不了的律動。這整套的表演歌曲均是歌頌耶穌誕生：Nativity而作。
而其中的Wriggly，自然就是小朋友最愛的部分啦！
表演前學校方負責的就是教導學生唱跳走位部分，
而家長會獲得相關歌詞，可以在家帶著小朋友練習唱跳部分。
更重要的是家長要張羅戲服，或手作，或花錢購買均可。
小孩可以飾演的角色包括：Donkey, Innkeeper, Shepherd, sheep, angel, chicken, cows......
演出當日：
小朋友在舞台上排成扇型，因為僅有這個年級的小小孩演出，減少了其他年齡學生的干擾。
Reception一共有兩班，小朋友分別負責不同的歌曲。
因為都是一起排練，其實大部分的歌曲都知道怎麼唱。
現場的音控很簡單，是高年級學生(Primary or secondary school)幫忙負責。
英國很常見到"做中學習"以及"付出"，"年長照顧年幼"的騎士精神。
有些有參加學校樂器課外活動的學生，會一起表演一小段打擊或銅管樂，為節目揭開序幕。
每首曲目的銜接基本上就是耶穌誕生的完整故事，因此內容不難，可以專心欣賞小小孩演出。
現場錄影的部分是專責老師以ipad錄影，事後再剪輯完成影像後製編輯，
與台灣常見的專業錄影自然不能相比。但是優點是距離較近，
孩童表演時極可能獲得較大而清晰的影像。
演出的過程是非常自主自然的，偶有小孩哭鬧未參與表演，或者因部分道具壞掉走到前台，
或者未到自己戲份的小孩在旁邊自己玩耍，台下的家長們都可以欣賞包容，
彷彿這些行為動作也是演出的一部份。
